Sikuai Island, paradise of West Sumatera

Sikuai Island is one island which is located on the western side of Sumatra island. In public administration, this island into the Gulf of sackcloth Bungus districts, the city of Padang, West Sumatra province, Indonesia.

The island is located about half a nautical mile from downtown and can be reached by sea transportation such as ships, through Muara port and dock Airud Bungus in about 35 minutes travel time.

Sikuai island including the island year-round tropical climate with beautiful white sand beach, the waves are exotic and still have a natural tropical forest.


As a tourist destination, local government in cooperation with the private sector, has facilitated this island resort hotel commensurate with two star hotel. This resort hotel provides 25 pieces cottages, restaurant, rooms for meetings, and a swimming pool, although the rental price is quite expensive, but visitors can enjoy the beautiful beach around the island or explore the natural forests to rock climbing or nautical tourism.

Visits Tourist Back Restored aftermath of Mount Merapi

However, when the status of Merapi to the third week, October 11 until October 17, 2010 the number of visitors of 4507 people, or decreased 146 (3.14 percent).

Then in the second week, October 18 until October 24, 2010 the number of visitors as many as 3816 people, or a decrease of 837 persons or 17.99 percent.

Since then the number of visitors has declined quite sharply. In the fourth week of October 25 till October 31, 2010 the number of visitors 3717 people, or decreased 936 persons (20.11 percent).

While in the first week, 1 November to 7 November 2010, the number of visitors continued to decline up to 37.84 percent. The number of visitors at that time as many as 2893 people.

Previously, he invites investors to develop culinary tourism in Glagah Beach attractions that have a bright future if serious tilled. "We started to intensify campaigns for investors interested in working on a culinary tour at this beach a tourist attraction," he said.

According to him, until now there have been two local investors who are interested in working on a culinary tour attractions Glagah Beach Kulon Progo. "There are two investors who wanted to open a seafood restaurant on this beach," he said.

Glagah Beach is one of the leading tourist beach beach in Yogyakarta Special Region. This beach has very nice scenery, and the stretch of sand contains enough iron sand potential.

Lake Maninjau is a caldera lake in West Sumatra, Indonesia

Lake Maninjau has an area of 99.5 km², being approximately 16 km long and 7 km wide. The average depth is 105 m, with a maximum depth of 165 m. The natural outlet for excess water is the Antokan river, located on the west side of the lake. It is the only lake in Sumatra which has a natural outlet to the west coast. Since 1983 this water has been used to generate hydroelectric power for West Sumatra, generated around 68 MW at maximum load.

Most of the people who live around Lake Maninjau are ethnically Minangkabau. Villages on the shores of the lake include Maninjau and Bayur.

Maninjau is a notable tourist destination in the region due to its scenic beauty and mild climate. It is also used as a site for paragliding.
